Antheil, Bernstein, Bolcom, Copland, Debussy, Ellington, Gottchalk, Gershwin, Martinu, Milhaud, Ravel, Schoenberg, Shostakovich,
Tippett, Walton, and Weill will be represented throughout the summer. This summer is also one of collaborations, as the Aspen Music Festival and School joins fellow arts
organizations with a variety of exciting events. Co-presentations with the Aspen Institute, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, the Aspen
Santa Fe Ballet, and Aspen Film appear nearly every week of the summer, featuring fresh, hot talent such as the legendary
Wynton Marsalis, sizzling jazz bassist Christian McBride, and Aspen's nationally acclaimed ballet troupe dancing to live music. The AMFS's adventurous mini-festivals shine light upon three highly charged perspectives
withStravinsky Rex, Made in America: Jazz, andBeethoven's Power
of Music. The Baroque invasion inaugurated at the AMFS in 2005 will see a return by the period-instrument orchestra Tafelmusik
in two outstanding and unique programs. |
